Shakib Al Hasan scripts history in T20 cricket; Achieves massive feat during CPL 2025

Former Bangladesh cricketer Shakib Al Hasan has scripted history in T20 cricket by becoming the first ever cricketer to achieve the double of 7000 runs and 500 wickets. Shakib achieved the feat during the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, where he is part of Antigua and Barbuda Falcons.

On Sunday (August 24), Antigua and Barbuda Falcons clashed with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in match No. 11 of CPL 2025. The Falcons elected to bowl first after winning the toss and restricted the Patriots for 133/9 in the first innings, with Shakib claiming a three-wicket haul. With his three-wicket haul in the game, Shakib completed 500 wickets in T20 cricket.

Later, he also scored 25 runs off 18 balls as the Falcons won the match with ease by seven wickets. Karima Gore scored an unbeaten half-century during the chase. Shakib was adjudged Player of the Match for his brilliant show with both bat and ball.

Shakib Hasan completes the double of 7000 runs and 500 wickets in T20 cricket

With his brilliant show in the ongoing CPL 2025, the former Bangladesh skipper has become the first-ever cricketer to complete the double of 7000 runs and 500 wickets in T20 cricket. Notably, Andre Russell needs 13 more wickets to become second cricketer after Shakib to achieve the feat.

Moreover, Shakib became fifth cricketer to clinch 500 wickets in T20 cricket. Previously, the feat was achieved by Rashid Khan, Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine, and Imran Tahir.

Notably, Shakib has already retired from T20 internationals. He picked 149 wickets and scored 2551 runs in 129 T20Is for Bangladesh from 2006 to 2024.

Meanwhile, Antigua and Barbuda Falcons hold the top spot in CPL 2025 points table with seven points. Out of six matches, they have won three games and lost two encounters, while one ended without a result. Their next clash is scheduled against Trinbago Knight Riders on August 27.
