Shakib Al Hasan scored 32 runs in Bangladesh’s first innings in Chennai.

Commentators and fans spotted something different and unusual when veteran Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was batting in his side’s first innings in the ongoing 1st IND vs BAN test in Chennai.

On day 2 of the ongoing Chennai test, Bangladesh batted for 47.1 overs, in which they were bowled out for 149 runs in reply to India’s first innings total of 376 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah took a sensational four-wicket haul, while Mohammed Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja and Akash Deep took two wickets each.

During Bangladesh’s innings, there was an interesting event noted by everyone when Shakib was seen biting his helmet strap while batting.

Why was Shakib Al Hasan biting his helmet strap while batting in 1st IND vs BAN test in Chennai?

Commentator Dinesh Karthik revealed that Shakib’s former teammate Tamim Iqbal told him that Shakib is biting the helmet strap to keep his head from falling towards the leg side and keep it straight while facing the delivery.

This is an interesting method that the left-hander is using to improve his technique. It is also to be noted that Shakib has been having problems with his vision in recent times. He consulted an ophthalmologist earlier this year in London.

Not too long ago, he was seen biting his jersey while batting in the Global T20 Canada.

Meanwhile, India have an upper hand at the end of day 2 in Chennai. In their second innings, they have lost three wickets for 81 runs but have a lead of 308 runs. Pant and Gill are at the crease.
