Shamar Joseph returned with 5/33 in the first innings against South Africa in 2nd test.
West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph expressed that his five-wicket haul in the ongoing test match against South Africa in Guyana was felt extra special to him as it came in his first test at his home ground.
Shamar’s family was present in the stands at the Providence Stadium in Guyana in the ongoing second test match against the Proteas.
Joseph dismantled the Protea batting line-up by registering the third five-wicket haul of his test career. He took the wickets of opener Aiden Markram, captain Temba Bavuma, David Bedingham, wicket-keeper batter Kyle Verreynne and Keshav Maharaj. The right-arm speedster registered figures of 5/33 which helped in bowling South Africa out for 160 runs in their first innings.
It’s a great feeling: Shamar Joseph after picking five-for at home ground
Shamar reflected on his stunning fast-bowling performance on Thursday. The right-arm pacer said he felt great at taking a five-for at his home ground and in front his family members.
“I think it’s a great feeling, especially at home. Taking another five-wicket haul is a great feeling for me. To be fair I haven’t played many games at Providence. But I just did what the team needed and what I was supposed to bowl,” Joseph said.
“It’s a great feeling, with mom, dad and siblings here. I think Jason Holder will bowl very well tomorrow and then Jomel Warrican and myself. It’s all about the support. Going out there and supporting the senior batsman Jason,” Joseph added.
