Shamar Joseph returned with the figures of 4/46 against Australia in the first innings.

The West Indies Cricket Team pacer Shamar Joseph gave a stunning reply to cricketer-turned-commentator Ian Healy with his magnificent four-wicket haul in the ongoing first test against the Australia Cricket Team. The two teams are locking horns with each other in the first game of the three-match series in the Caribbean.

The first test commenced on June 25 at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. Australia are short of key batters like Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne in the encounter. The visitors won the toss and opted to bat first in the match.

Right-arm pacer Joseph destroyed Australia’s batting line-up by dismissing both openers Sam Konstas and Usman Khawaja. He also got the crucial wickets of one-down Cameron Green and later dismissed Beau Webster to complete his four-fer in the first innings. Have a look at the video below.

The wicket of Sam Konstas was even special for Jospeh because, ahead of the match, the fast bowler had warned Australia’s young opener, who is playing his first test series in the West Indies.

Joseph had said, “Just look out, that’s all”. However, this did not go well with Healy who later commented that Joseph delivered ‘crap’ performance last year after his good show in Australia at the start.

“Shamar has come out today and said to Konstas’ just look out and watch what is coming’. OK Shamar well you’ve delivered crap all year. So he better improve, that’s what I’m saying in the dressing room. He’s got real trouble. You’re not Curtly Ambrose, champ,” said Ian Healy on SENQ Breakfast.

Meanwhile, Jayden Seales hunted a five-wicket haul and Justin Greaves picked one wicket in the first innings to bundle out Australia for 180/10. Travis Head (59) scored a half-century, while Usman Khawaja hit 47 runs.

However, the West Indies failed to make a good start with the bat, losing four wickets for 57 runs at the stumps on day one. The hosts lost both openers, Kraigg Brathwaite and John Campbell, for single digits. For Australia, Mitchell Starc captured two wickets while Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood got one scalp each.
