CSK’s Shardul Thakur and KKR’s Deepak Chahar exchanged jerseys after the IPL 2023 match between the two teams on May 14th at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

CSK's total after electing to bat first and winning the toss was merely 144 for six. At the Chepauk, Sunil Narine (2/15) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/36) of KKR each claimed two wickets while Shivam Dube top-scored with an unbeaten 48 off 34 balls.

Rinku Singh and skipper Nitish Rana each scored 54 and an unbeaten 57 respectively as KKR overcame some early difficulties while pursuing 145 to reach the goal in 18.3 overs.

After their Sunday IPL encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings—led by icon Mahendra Singh Dhoni—performed a ceremonial lap of honor around Chepauk.

Dhoni was spotted carrying a racquet in one hand while throwing a few shirts and striking a few balls into the crowd. Police personnel who attended the occasion also had their share of highlights, including seeing Dhoni and collecting his autograph.

Meanwhile, after the match, CSK shared a video of Shardul Thakur checking out the wall of champions in the Chepauk ground dressing room, and when he reached his name in the list of the IPL 2021 winning team, he was approached by Deepak Chahar.

Shardul was part of the CSK squad from 2018 and 2021 but the bowling all-rounder returned to Chepauk on May 14, 2023, as a KKR player. Shardul picked up 55 wickets in 48 IPL matches for the MS Dhoni-led side.

Posting a video on his Instagram handle, CSK wrote, "Cherry x Dhool. Just like old times. #CSKvKKR #WhistlePodu #Yellove.” The two pacers can be seen shaking hands and exchanging jerseys at the end of the game, with Shardul saying, "it is good to be back in CSK jersey." In the video, Shardul can be also heard telling Deepak that jersey “seedha nikalna tha na”.
