Shardul Thakur suffered a blow to his shoulder during facing throwdowns.

Team India suffered a big defeat at the hands of South Africa in the Boxing Day Test in Centurion. The hosts hammered India by an innings and 32 runs to take a 1-0 unassailable lead in the two-match series. India couldn’t match the skill level of South Africa with bat and the ball and end up losing yet another game in SENA countries. This was fourth defeat for India in a row in SENA nations.

The second test is scheduled to take place from January 3 in Cape Town. India don’t have any other option except winning the game to level the series, but it will be a big task after the horrible show they had in the first game. Meanwhile, during the preparation for the second game, the team has suffered a major blow with Shardul Thakur being hit during the practice session.

After a horrible defeat, Team India will have to do well to win the second test. Their bowling looked pretty ordinary in the first match. Apart from Jasprit Bumrah, none of the other bowlers looked threatening. However, Shardul Thakur, who is a vital cog of the Indian team, has been now hit while facing throwdowns from batting coach Vikram Rathour during a training session in South Africa ahead of the second test.

After receiving the hit, the all-rounder looked in pain and left the practice session. The physio came out with an ice pack and Shardul didn’t come out to bowl later. As per PTI, it has been learnt that Thakur can even miss the final test in Cape Town. Though there is not confirmation from the team, but it is certainly an injury scare.

Shardul Thakur looked clueless in the first test with the ball in hand and went for 101 by taking just one wicket. He scored vital runs in the first innings, but got out cheaply in the second. However, India don’t want any another injury because that will not be ideal for the final test. India are already missing Mohammed Shami, who is out of the series, and another injury will certainly be a massive blow for the team.
