Shaun Tait applies for Punjab Ranji Trophy team head coach role

Shaun Tait was the bowling coach of the Pakistan cricket team for a span of 12 months.
In a significant development, former Australian speedster Shaun Tait might become the next head coach of the Punjab Ranji Trophy team for the upcoming domestic season, according to a report in The Indian Express.
The 41-year-old Tait represented Australia in three Tests, 35 ODIs and 21 T20Is during his international career. The right-arm pacer bagged five wickets in the longest format, 62 scalps in ODIs and dismissed 28 batters in the shortest format.

According to a recent report in The Indian Express, former Indian cricketer Jaffer and ex-Australian speedster Tait are in the race to become the next head coach of the senior Punjab domestic side for the upcoming domestic season.
Tait is an experienced coach and has worked with a few top-level teams, including the Pakistan Super League franchise Quetts Gladiators.
The 41-year-old Tait has served as the bowling coach of the Pakistan men’s cricket team for a span of 12 months. In 2021, the former Australian pacer was also associated with the Afghanistan cricket team as a bowling consultant.
Former Indian cricketer Jaffer has previously worked as the chief coach of Uttarakhand and Odisha and was also the coach of the Bangladesh U-19 team. Jaffer has also been the batting coach of the Indian Premier League franchise Punjab Kings.
“We have received over 45 applicants for the head coach role of the Punjab senior team. Two of the prominent names are former India opener Wasim Jaffer and former Australia speedster Shaun Tait. The process is still underway and we will announce the name by next week,” a Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) official told The Indian Express.
