Shikhar Dhawan retired from international cricket with a total of 10867 runs and 24 centuries.

Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan retired from international and domestic cricket earlier this month, drawing curtains on a successful career in which the left-hander amassed over 10000 runs and notched up 24 hundreds for India.

The 38-year-old Dhawan was an integral part of the Indian ODI side from 2013 to 2019 and he ends up as one of the finest ODI openers.

He scored 6793 ODI runs at an average of 44 with a strike rate of 91; he is one of only eight ODI batsmen with over 5000 runs at a 40-plus average and a 90-plus strike rate.

Dhawan was the highest scorer in the triumphant ICC Champions Trophy 2013. He was India’s highest scorer in the Asia Cup 2014, World Cup 2015, Champions Trophy 2017 and Asia Cup 2018.

Shikhar Dhawan picks two Bollywood stars for his biopic

During an interview with Hindustan Times, Shikhar Dhawan was floated with the idea of a biopic. He was asked to name the actor he would like to see play his role if a biopic is made on his life and career.

First, the former opener cheekily said he would like to act himself. He then went on to name Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh as two actors who could do his role because of their energy.

Dhawan said, “I would love it, only if it is made well. As for me acting in it, I would happily do it in case I added any value to the film. As for other actors, I would love for Akshay Paaji (Akshay Kumar) to do it, or even Ranveer Singh, for the sheer energy he has.”

Dhawan has not revealed any plans for his future yet. Since he is retired from international, domestic, and Indian Premier League (IPL), the left-hander can now feature in overseas T20 leagues.
