On Tuesday, the organisers shared an official post about all four participating squads. One post showed Shikhar Dhawan as captain of the Asia Warriors squad. After that, India’s former opener took note of this and responded immediately.
Dhawan warned the organisers that he would take legal action for putting his name in the tournament. The 40-year-old took to social media and slammed the management. He also asked fans not to share false news about his participation.
He wrote, “I have come across my name as a participant in the World T20 Continent Cup. My name has been used by the organizers without my knowledge or permission, and my team will be taking the appropriate legal steps to address this. I request the media and my fans to not report or rely on any unauthorized announcements. Thank you for your continued love and support.”
Notably, a few Pakistani players are also part of the Asia Warriors squad. Apart from Dhawan, the other Indian cricketers named in the team were Rahul Sharma, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, and Abhimanyu Mithun. Dhawan has been vocal against Pakistan since Operation Sindoor in 2025.
That is why Dhawan’s inclusion in the squad featuring Pakistani players surprised many fans. After Dhawan’s stand, the organisers confirmed that he won’t participate in the tournament.
