Shikhar Dhawan slams social media users for THIS reason after marrying Sophie Shine

Dhawan recently married Sophie Shine.

Days after former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan exchanged vows with long-time partner Sophie Shine in a private ceremony in Delhi-NCR on February 21, the cricketer finds himself grappling with something that isn’t as celebratory: a wave of misinformation spreading on social media platforms.

What should have been an undisturbed personal milestone quickly turned into a PR firefight, as fabricated quotes attributed to Dhawan began circulating widely online.

The fake statement, which gained significant traction, alleged that Dhawan had said his second marriage was a “befitting reply” to his former wife Aesha Mukerji, who once said to him that no woman would ever marry him again.

The quote read: “When my first wife left me, she told me that no girl would ever marry me. But by getting married again, I have given her a fitting reply. Won’t you congratulate me on my wedding?“

The 40-year-old former Indian opener delivered a strong but measured response on Twitter on February 24, categorically denying the claims and criticising the culture of clickbait misinformation that continues to plague celebrities on social media.

He wrote, “I have come across some posts on social media attributing a disappointing statement about my personal life. I have never carried baggage from the past — be it on the pitch or outside. I firmly believe in the power of positivity while respecting my past. This is a new chapter in my life, and I feel truly grateful for the love and blessings I have received from my fans, friends, family, well-wishers, and media. I strongly urge people to associate my name with clickbait, insensitive, and false statements on social media. Let’s spread love and positivity. Thank you!”

Dhawan, who separated from Aesha in October 2023 after several years of marriage, has since kept his personal life largely out of the public eye. His remarriage also took place in a quiet ceremony attended by close friends and family.
