India Women started the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 with a spectacular win over Pakistan Women. They beat the archrival by 64 runs in Birmingham. Harmanpreet Kaur and her team faced Netherlands Women in their second game.
This match is underway at Headingley, Leeds. As expected, India Women are in a great position to win consecutive games of their campaign. However, India suffered a massive blow as all-rounder Shreyanka Patil sustained an injury in the second innings of the game.
The all-rounder picked up an ankle injury while trying to stop a ball on her own bowling at mid-on. This incident happened in the sixth over of the second innings, when she came out to bowl her first over of the match.
This was the very first fall of her spell. It was a floated ball in the middle, and Phebe Molkenboer pushed it to the on-side. The fielder couldn’t stop the ball, and Patil ran after it to stop it. However, she fell awkwardly and twisted her ankle.

Shreyanka Patil has been injury-prone. She was out of action for more than a year before making her come back to competitive cricket in the Women’s Premier League 2026. She also made her comeback to Indian cricket most recently and looked good with the form.
However, this injury can sideline her from the action again. It didn’t look good, as she was not able to stand on her feet and was carried off in a buggy. That has left India with a massive injury scare. She didn’t take part after going off the field.
Later, Shafali Verma completed her over. There is no official confirmation yet from the Indian management, and they will hope that it must not be a big injury. Speaking of the game, India Women ended up winning the game by 95 runs.
Shree Charani ended up with 4/19, while Shafali (3/20) and Nandni Sharma (2/22) also bowled well. Earlier, Smriti Mandhana scored her second consecutive half-century of the tournament. She scored 74 off 47 balls, and Shafali also did well for her 38-ball 55.
India Women recorded their second consecutive win of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. With this win, India have jumped to the top of Group A with four points and an NRR of +3.975. India Women will be in action in their next game on Sunday against South Africa Women.
