Shreyas Iyer scored 11 and 17 in Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir.
Shreyas Iyer had a poor return to Ranji Trophy as the India batsman managed scores of 11 and 17 across his two outings against Jammu and Kashmir. The match is being played at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC, Mumbai.
Iyer was involved in a heated discussion alongside Ajinkya Rahane, the Mumbai captain, with the two on-field umpire’s during Mumbai’s second innings.
Iyer had edged a delivery from Auqib Nabi Dar behind the stumps where wicket-keeper Kanhaiya Wadhawan took the catch.
Shreyas Iyer and Rahane, though, were not convinced that the catch from Kanhaiya was clean. The two umpires had a discussion within themselves and decided not to send the call upstairs and declared Iyer out, which infuriated the batsman, who could be seen arguing with the umpire with a hand gesture.
Rahane, too, was annoyed and looked to have a chat with the on-field umpires. But eventually, the umpire’s decision of out stayed and Iyer had to walk back without the intervention of the third umpire.
