Shreyas Iyer got ruled out of IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2023 Super Four match due to back spasms.

Team India are all set to take on Sri Lanka in an all-important game in the Super Four of the Asia Cup 2023. This match will decide who will probably be the first team to qualify for the finals of the tournaments. There are only three games left in the Super Four, and three teams are on two points each.

India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka are all in the race for the final. That makes the coming IND-SL contest more exciting. The team that wins today's game will get two important points and will move to four points on the table. Well, the Indian team will be full of confidence after a thumping win over Pakistan last night. India thrashed Pakistan by an impressive margin of 228 runs, and Sri Lanka will be aware of that threat.

Injury scare for India as Shreyas Iyer is unfit for selection against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023

Team India will be ready to face the defending champions on Tuesday because Sri Lanka beat them in the Super Four in the last edition, which was played in the T20I format. Though it will be a great time for revenge, But there is not much good news coming from the Indian camp. The star batter, Shreyas Iyer, hasn't shown full fitness.

As per the BCCI, he is unavailable for selection for the match against Sri Lanka on Tuesday and hasn't travelled to the stadium along with the team. That means Iyer is all set to miss two consecutive games in the Super Four of the Asia Cup 2023. This will be a big setback for India, as Iyer is coming off a long injury, and his fitness will make the team change their plans. Shreyas Iyer is an important member of the Indian middle order in ODI cricket. The BCCI confirmed Iyer's unavailability through a post on Twitter (X).

BCCI informed on Twitter (now X), "UPDATE - Shreyas Iyer is feeling better but is yet to fully recover from back spasm. He has been adviced rest by the BCCI Medical Team and has not travelled with the team to the stadium today for India's Super 4 match against Sri Lanka."

Iyer sustained a back spasm during the net sessions ahead of the Pakistan clash, which left him out of the game, and KL Rahul replaced him at the last moment. The Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, told at the toss that Iyer was expected to play, but they found out during the warm-up. Later, Rohit also revealed that Rahul was told about his selection just five minutes before the start. There were some speculations that India might rest some of their players because of three consecutive days of cricket, but with Iyer no longer available, we might not see many changes.
