The Indian team has already started their preparations for the series. Shubman Gill will lead the side, while experienced players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are also part of the squad.
India have several batting options available for the series, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad also looking for opportunities. The team will also have to decide on the No. 4 spot after Shreyas Iyer’s absence from the series.
However, India’s preparations suffered a scare on Friday, September 25, when captain Shubman Gill was hit on the elbow during a net session.

Gill was batting in the nets when a rising delivery from Mohammed Siraj hit him on the elbow. The India captain appeared to be in pain and had to leave the nets for treatment.
According to Cricbuzz, Gill needed nearly 20 minutes of medical attention after being hit. He later returned to the nets and faced throwdowns before India’s training session ended.
The incident has raised concerns just two days before India are scheduled to face West Indies in the first ODI.

The positive news for India was that Gill did not remain away from the training session for the rest of the day. After receiving treatment, the right-handed batter returned to the nets and faced throwdowns.
This will come as some relief for the Indian team, although his availability for the first ODI will only become clearer after further assessment.
India are scheduled to hold a press conference on Saturday, which could provide more information about the captain’s condition.
