Shubman Gill joins Shikhar Dhawan, Jos Buttler & Virat Kohli in an elusive list in the IPL

Shubman Gill enters the list of legends as the fourth batter to hit back-to-back centuries in the IPL.
Records kept coming in as Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli walk down the path not taken by many in the same game. Both Kohli and Gill became the third and the fourth batters respectively to hit back-to-back centuries in IPL. First, Virat Kohli scored a 61-ball 101*, and then later on, Gill matched it with a response of 104* off just 52 balls.
The first player to achieve the feat to hit consecutive centuries was Shikhar Dhawan back in 2020 when he was playing for the Delhi Capitals. He scored his two back-to-back centuries against CSK and PBKS. After him, Jos Buttler got added to the list when he struck two centuries on the bounce against KKR and DC in IPL 2022.
Coincidentally, both Virat and Shubman scored their first century out of these two against SRH in their respective last games. In an all-important game for RCB, Virat Kohli showed his class and experience and helped RCB post a good total on the board against GT. In riposte, Shubman Gill spoiled the party for RCB as he went not out with the score of 104 runs to take GT home and crash RCB out of the tournament.
It's all working out for me at the business end of the tournament - Shubman Gill
The next-gen superstar, Shubman Gill has been impressive in IPL 2023 with 2 centuries to his name already. Shubman Gill did not have a great start to the season as he kept scoring runs but not consistently. Picking up form just at the right moment, Gill scored two centuries on the trot, making him only the fourth batter in the history of IPL to do so.
Speaking on his form, he said, "I am in good form, it's about getting a start and then converting it into a big one. In the first half of the IPL, I was missing out on those big ones. I was getting a lot of 40s and 50s. Thankfully, it's all working out for me in the business end of the IPL. You need to keep playing shots in T20 cricket. You have to keep the intent and keep applying yourself, keep the belief."
Opening up about the next challenge for Gujarat Titans and himself, he said, "It's going to be an exciting one, playing against Chennai in Chennai. We have got a great bowling attack for that wicket in particular and hopefully we'll make it to the final for the second time."
