Shubman Gill has scored 607 runs in three games in the ENG vs IND test series.
The Indian Cricket Team skipper, Shubman Gill, is on the verge of breaking a massive record in the fourth test of the five-match series against the England Cricket Team. The match between the two teams will commence on July 23 at Old Trafford, Manchester.
Shubman Gill has shown a wonderful batting display in the series so far. With 607 runs in six innings across three games, he is the leading run-scorer in the series. At a spectacular batting average of 101.17, Gill has slammed three centuries as well in the series.
In the second test at Edgbaston, the right-handed batsman scored a double century and a century across both innings to break plenty of records. In the opening test, he became the fifth Indian captain to score a century on test captaincy debut.
Shubman Gill eyes a massive record in Manchester test
Notably, Gill needs 25 more runs in the Manchester test to become the Asian batter with the most runs in a test series in England. Currently, former Pakistan player Mohammad Yousuf holds the record with 631 runs, which came in the 2006 series.
Moreover, Gill is 107 runs short of becoming the Indian batsman with the most runs in a test series against England. Yashasvi Jaiswal owns the record with 712 runs, which he scored in the home test series in 2024.

Notably, former England cricketer Graham Gooch owns the record for most runs in a test series between India and England. He scored 752 runs in a series in 1990. Hence, Gill needs 146 more runs to break this record. With two more games left in the series, Gill has a brilliant opportunity to capture this record to his name.
Meanwhile, the Indian team is dealing with a few injuries ahead of the Manchester test. Pacer Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep have sustained injuries and might not be available for the fourth test. Anshul Kamboj has been added as a cover for the last two games. Rishabh Pant is expected to be unfit for keeping the stumps in the fourth test.
