Shubman Gill is the current captain of the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has been a prolific batsman in the tournament over the past several years and has performed consistently well.
The right-handed batsman made his debut in the 2018 edition for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and was part of the side till 2021. When the Gujarat Titans were formed in IPL 2022, Gill was picked as one of the three marquee players.
He played a crucial role in GT’s title-winning campaign in IPL 2022. In the next season, he won the Orange Cap by finishing with 890 runs. When skipper Hardik Pandya parted ways with GT ahead of IPL 2024, Gill was appointed as the new captain of the side.
Under his captaincy, GT have done an impressive job, reaching the playoffs in two of three seasons. Moreover, Gill has rocked with the bat in the recent two editions, scoring 600-plus runs in each season.
With over 4400 runs in 131 games at an average of 40+ and a strike rate of over 140, Gill has been a magnificent performer in the IPL over the years. He has also hammered four centuries and 32 fifties.
