Shubman Gill has lost three of his first four series as the captain of the Indian ODI side.

Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill are two of India’s most highly renowned cricketing figures. They represent one of the most interesting inter-generational relationships in Indian cricket. Gill, often called the Prince of Indian cricket, has always mentioned Kohli as his inspiration.

Following in the footsteps of the King, the young cricketer gradually established himself as one of India‘s leading cricketers. The relationship between the two players has also provided fans with several light-hearted moments.

One such recent example came to light when a fun Instagram reel featuring Virat Kohli‘s son Akaay and Gill went viral. Shubman Gill himself entered the viral moment with a hilarious comment.

The viral Instagram reel featured a content creator portraying Akaay’s school teacher. In the comedic scenario, the teacher scolds Akaay and asks him to bring both his parents to school, following a minor classroom incident.

The reel then adds a humorous twist by asking Akaay to bring along his ‘uncle’ as well – with the Indian Test and ODI captain, Shubman Gill, named as the uncle.

This viral joke had already caught the attention of cricket fans and was largely being shared on social media. Fans flooded the comment section with hilarious one-liners and memes.

But the viral moment became even more entertaining when Gill himself responded to the reel. Tagging Kohli, he commented, “Bhai dw I gotchu,” which supposedly means “Don’t worry, brother, I have got your back.”

The ‘uncle’ tag, which the Indian captain graciously accepted, seems to add another layer to the popular off-field dynamic between the two players.

Both Gill and Kohli will once again share the dressing room during the West Indies tour of India in a three-match ODI series starting from September 27. Gill will lead the Indian side, which is likely to feature the legendary batter.
