Sri Lanka, led by Charith Asalanka, won their opening game against Bangladesh by six wickets. After opting to bowl first, they restricted Bangladesh to 139/5 in the first innings. Wanindu Hasaranga clinched two wickets while Nuwan Thushara and Dushmantha Chameera got one scalp each.
Later, opener Pathum Nissanka (50) scored a wonderful half-century while Kamil Mishara scored an unbeaten 46 runs to propel Sri Lanka to an easy victory. With two points, Sri Lanka grab the second spot in the group B points table.

Hong Kong, who are led by Yasim Murtaza in the tournament, have lost their first two games. In their first match, they lost to Afghanistan by 94 runs, after failing to chase a 189-run target. In their second game, they lost to Bangladesh by seven wickets.
Notably, Sri Lanka will face Hong Kong in a T20I match for the first time. With a victory against Hong Kong, Sri Lanka can move to the top spot in the group B points table and qualify for the Super Four stage.
