India defeated Sri Lanka by 7 wickets (DLS method) in the second SL vs IND T20I series.

After being asked to bat first, hosts Sri Lanka posted a good total of 161/9 in 20 overs against the Indian cricket team in the second match of the ongoing three-match T20I series at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele on July 28.

Veteran left-handed batter Kusal Perera slammed 54 runs off 34 balls, while opener Pathum Nissanka scored 34 runs off 24 deliveries, which helped the hosts reach above the 160-run mark.

For India, leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi bagged a three-wicket haul. Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya took two scalps each. Sadly, rain played spoilsport after India began their innings, and then the target was revised to 78 runs in 8 overs.

After the game resumed, Sri Lanka spinner Maheesh Theekshana dismissed opener Sanju Samson for a golden duck in the second over of India’s chase. After Samson’s wicket, youngster Yashavi Jaiswal (30 off 15) and skipper Suryakumar Yadav (26 off 12) helped visitors reach 54-2 in five overs.

Towards the end, all-rounder Hardik Pandya played a blistering knock of 29* runs in 9 deliveries, which helped them win the match by seven wickets.

With this victory, India seal the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka 2-0, with one more game to go. The final match will be played on July 30 at the very same stadium in Pallekele.

SL vs IND 2024: Most Runs

After the end of the first two games in the three-match T20I series, Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka continues to stay at the top with 111 runs. Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav remained at the second position with 84 runs to his name.

Sri Lanka veteran batter Kusal Perera is third with 73 runs, whereas Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is slotted fourth with 64 runs. With 55 runs, Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis is slotted fifth.

Sri Lanka pacer Matheesha Pathirana leads the wicket-takers chart with five wickets after the end of the second match in the ongoing three-match T20I series.

India speedster Arshdeep Singh follows him next with four wickets to his name. Men in Blue spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel are placed third and fourth with four wickets each.

Off-spinner Riyan Parag is fifth with three wickets after the end of the second match in the ongoing three-match SL vs IND T20I series.
