SL vs IND 2024: Most runs, most wickets after 2nd ODI, Colombo
Sri Lanka won the second match by 32 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the SL vs IND ODI series.
Sri Lanka took a lead of 1-0 in the three-match SL vs IND ODI series after winning the second ODI by 32 runs. Jeffrey Vandersay stunned India in Colombo with his six-wicket haul.
First, the Indian spinners, led by off-spinner Washington Sundar, tested the Sri Lankan batters on a tricky Colombo pitch as the hosts managed to score a respectable total of 240/9 in 50 overs.
Washington Sundar (3/30) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/33) took advantage of the spin-friendly pitch after Sri Lanka skipper Charith Asalanka decided to bat first. Batters Avishka Fernando (40 off 62 balls) and Kamindu Mendis (40 off 44 balls) were the top scorers for their side.
While defending 241, leg spinner Jeffrey Vandersay (6/33) dismantled the Indian batting line-up by picking a six-wicket haul. Vandersay snared the crucial wickets of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma (64), vice-captain Shubman Gill (35), Virat Kohli (14), Shivam Dube (0), KL Rahul (0), and Shreyas Iyer (7).
Sri Lanka skipper Charith Asalanka (3/20) supported Vandersay superbly by picking a three-wicket haul as India were all out for 208. For the visitors, skipper Rohit Sharma played a valuable knock of 64 runs and Axar Patel scored 44 runs. But their knocks went in vain.
With this victory, Sri Lanka took a 1-0 lead in the ongoing three-match ODI series. The final SL vs IND match of the series will be played on August 7 at the same stadium in Colombo.
SL vs IND 2024: Most Runs
After the end of the first two SL vs IND ODIs, Indian opener and skipper Rohit Sharma is leading the run-scoring chart with 122 runs to his name. Sri Lanka all-rounder Dunith Wellalage is second with 106 runs.
Indian all-rounder Axar Patel is slotted third with 76 runs. Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka is positioned fourth with 56 runs after the end of the second ODI. Indian opener Shubman Gill finds himself at fifth position with 51 runs.

Following conclusion of the second ODI, Sri Lanka’s Jeffrey Vandersay is leading the wicket-takers’ chart with six wickets. Sri Lanka skipper Charith Asalanka is slotted second with six wickets. Vandersay has a better average than Asalanka, hence he’s at the top.
Left-arm spinner Axar Patel finds himself in the third spot with four scalps. Leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga follows him with three wickets. It is to be noted that Hasaranga is ruled out of the second and third ODI due to a hamstring injury. India spinner Kuldeep Yadav is slotted fifth with three scalps.
