Smriti Mandhana became the second player to reach 15 centuries in Women’s cricket.

India Women batter Smriti Mandhana has scripted history by becoming the first Asian player to reach 15 international centuries in women’s cricket. The left-handed batter achieved the milestone during the ongoing second WODI against Australia Women, underway at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.

Overall, Mandhana is the second player to reach the milestone of 15 centuries in Women’s cricket after Australia’s Meg Lanning, who has hammered 17 tons. This was Mandhana’s 12th century in the 50-over format, and is only behind New Zealand’s Suzie Bates (13) and Lanning (15) in the list of most tons in WODIs.

Out of Mandhana’s 15 tons, 12 have come in ODIs, two in tests, and one in T20Is. Mandhana also holds the record for the most centuries for India. Former India player Mithali Raj and Harmanpreet Kaur are next on the list with eight centuries each.

Across 107 ODIs, Mandhana has slammed 4763 runs at an average of 47.16 with 12 centuries and 32 half-centuries. In the ongoing game against Australia, she slammed 117 runs off 91 balls, with four sixes and 14 boundaries.

Australia Women lead the three-match series 1-0, after winning the opening game by eight wickets. In the first ODI, India Women posted 281/7 in the first innings with half-centuries by Pratika Rawal (64), Smriti Mandhana (58), and Harleen Deol (54). However, with fifties by Phoebe Litchfield (88), Beth Mooney (77*), and Annabel Sutherland (54*), Australia Women chased down the target with ease. The ongoing game will be extremely important for the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side as they eye levelling the series.
