Smriti Mandhana scored 105 runs against Australia in Perth.
With her sensational century against Australia in Perth on Wednesday, 11th December, 2024, Smriti Mandhana etched her name in Women’s ODI cricket. The Indian opener now stands tall as the only woman to score four WODI hundreds in a calendar year.
Smriti Mandhana has been outstanding in WODIs in 2024, scoring 599 runs in 10 matches at an outstanding average of 59.90 with a highest score of 136.
Smriti had scored two centuries in the home series against South Africa earlier this year. Her third ton this year came in a series-winning performance against New Zealand, where she went past Mithali Raj for most centuries by an Indian women’s cricketer in this format.
Coming to her performance today, Smriti stood as the lonely warrior for India scoring 105 runs off 109 balls in the run chase of 299 runs. Mandhana, however, she got dismissed just after reaching her century, getting bowled to Ashleigh Gardner’s delivery. Later, India were bowled out for 215 and lost the game by 83 runs and the series 0-3.
Earlier in the first innings, Annabel Sutherland led Australia’s recovery by scoring 110 off 95 balls, helping the hosts reach a competitive total of 298 runs. Arundhati Reddy starred for India, taking 4 wickets for 26 runs in her 10-over spell.
