Sourav Ganguly said Mohammed Siraj showed a lot of consistency during the ENG vs IND series.
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has heaped praise on Mohammed Siraj for his wonderful bowling show in the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. The right-arm pacer finished as the highest wicket-taker in the series and played a vital role in helping India draw the series 2-2.
At an average of 32.43, Siraj captured 23 wickets across five games, bagging two fifers. Moreover, the right-arm pacer featured in all five games and bowled more than 185 overs, showing a high level of fitness during the tour.
In the final test at The Oval, Siraj picked a five-wicket haul in the second innings to drive the team to victory by a narrow margin of six runs. England needed 35 more runs to win the match on day five, with four wickets left; however, Siraj dismissed three batsmen to demolish their batting. Scalping nine wickets in the encounter, he was adjudged the Player of the Match.

No wonder Mohammed Siraj is a role model: Sourav Ganguly
Ganguly, the former president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), hailed Siraj for his performance in England during an event. The 53-year-old said that the right-arm pacer knows his job well, and hence, he is often considered a role model.
“Siraj knows how to lead the attack. Right through the series, he bowled with a lot of consistency. And the kind of bowling he came up with on the final day (at The Oval), it does require a huge amount of mental strength as well as a big, big heart,” he said.
“No wonder Siraj is a role model. Whether (Jasprit) Bumrah is there or not, he knows what his job is. His presence matters,” he added.
Notably, the Shubman Gill & Co. registered victories in the second test at Edgbaston and the fifth test at The Oval during the series. Jasprit Bumrah was not part of either game. In his absence, Siraj claimed a five-wicket haul in both matches to help India outplay England.
