Dewald Brevis included as South Africa announce 16-member squad for Zimbabwe tests

Cricket South Africa has named five uncapped players in the test squad for Zimbabwe series.
Cricket South Africa, on Friday, June 6, announced a strong 16-member squad for the test series against the Zimbabwe Cricket Team. The two teams will be locking horns with each other in the two-match series at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo from 28 June to 10 July.
Temba Bavuma will be captaining the young team, which will see five uncapped players. The likes of Lhuan-dré Pretorius and Lesego Senokwane have received the maiden call-up along with fast bowler Codi Yusuf. The trio were rewarded for their consistent performances in the domestic circuit.
Apart from them, Dewald Brevis, who recently played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, has been added to the team as well. He is among the five uncapped players in the South African team for the Zimbabwe tests.
Brevis was the second-highest run-getter in the domestic First-Class (FC) competition, and apart from him, off-spinner Prenelan Subrayen also made the cut into the 16-member squad for the two-match series. While Zubayr Hamza will be making his comeback, having played his last test in February last year.
Marco Jansen, Aiden Markram, Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton and Tristan Stubbs, who are part of the South Africa squad for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final, have been rested. While, Nandre Burger, Gerald Coetzee and Lizaad Williams were not considered for selection.
