South Africa made several changes to their itinerary for the West Indies series earlier next year.

The five-match T20 International (T20I) series against the West Indies has been shortened to three games as part of the 2025–2026 men’s international home calendar modifications announced by Cricket South Africa (CSA).

The change comes after the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that the support period for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will start on January 31. To conform with the amended world calendar, the T20I series — initially planned for 27 January – 06 February – has been shortened.

The matches, which were originally scheduled till February 6, now have to end by January 31 when the T20 World Cup support period begins. As a result, two matches have been culled from the fixtures’ list.

Final T20I to become the “Pink T20I” with no ODIs scheduled

Buffalo Park in East London and Newlands in Cape Town will no longer host games, making them the greatest victims of the move. The first T20I will be played at Boland Park in Paarl on Tuesday, January 27th, followed by the second T20I at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Thursday, January 29.

The series will finish on Saturday, January 31, with the ever-popular Pink Day at Johannesburg’s DP World Wanderers Stadium. Pink Day, which has traditionally been staged as an ODI, will coincide with the third T20I in 2026, continuing to play an important role in raising awareness and cash for breast cancer efforts.

In preparation for the Under-19 World Cup, South Africa have additionally added three Under-19 one-day matches against India, which will take place at Willowmoore Park in Benoni from January 3 to 7. Zimbabwe and Namibia will co-host the tournament starting in mid-January; the schedule has not yet been announced.

The series will form a key part of both teams’ preparation for the ICC Under 19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026, to be co-hosted by Namibia and Zimbabwe early next year.

T20I Series against West Indies:

1st T20I – Tuesday, 27 January, South Africa vs West Indies – Boland Park, Paarl

2nd T20I – Thursday, 29 January, South Africa vs West Indies – SuperSport Park, Centurion

3rd T20I – Saturday, 31 January, – Pink Day, South Africa vs West Indies – Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg

Why have South Africa cancelled 2 T20Is against the West Indies?

South Africa will now play only three T20Is against the West Indies instead of five as the dates will clash with ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
