Rohit Sharma was dismissed for a nine-ball duck in the second IND vs NZ test in Pune.
In the second IND vs NZ test in Pune, the Indian cricket team delivered a comprehensive performance with the ball in New Zealand’s first innings. However, their own innings started on a poor note as captain Rohit Sharma departed for a duck.
After winning the toss and batting first, New Zealand scored 259 runs with the help of terrific half-centuries from Devon Conway (76) and Rachin Ravindra (65). The star of the show for the Indian team was off-spinner Washington Sundar, who returned with excellent figures of 7/59 in his first test match in over three years.
The Indian batting innings started disappointingly as they lost their first wicket on the score of just one run.
In the third over of India’s innings, seamer Tim Southee produced an absolute peach to rattle Rohit Sharma’s stumps. Southee bowled a superb delivery on off and middle and pitched on length. Rooted to his crease, Rohit tried to defend on the line of the ball. But the ball nipped away just a little that was enough to beat Rohit’s outside edge and hit the top of the off-stump.

After a good bowling performance in the second innings, India will be looking to take a massive first-innings lead. With the pitch expected to be extremely difficult to bat on in the fourth innings, India need to do the bulk of the scoring in their first innings.
At stumps on day 1 in Pune, India are 16/1 with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill at the crease.

India (Playing XI): Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma(c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant(w), Sarfaraz Khan, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj.
