Sunrisers Hyderabad have retained five players for the IPL 2025 season.
As mandated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), all the Indian Premier League (IPL) teams submitted their retained players list on Thursday, 31st October 2024.
Each franchise had the option to retain up to six players before the mega auction for IPL 2025. While many teams decided to maintain their core, a few teams like Punjab Kings are going to auction for an almost complete revamp.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have decided to maintain their core by retaining five key players: Pat Cummins, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen, and Travis Head. These men played major roles in SRH reaching the final last year, which they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders.
SRH also made headlines by retaining Henrich Klassen for a staggering INR 23 crore, marking the most expensive retention in this season’s IPL.
SRH had a remarkable campaign last year, finishing as runners-up. SRH made headlines through their explosive batting lineup. IPL 2024 saw SRH post the highest-ever IPL total of 287/3 vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
SRH’s Henrich Klassen and Travis Head were the key parts of their successful campaign, scoring 479 and 567 runs respectively
Just a day after they revealed their five retentions for the IPL 2025, the Hyderabad franchise confirmed their captain for the upcoming season.
SRH reveal their captain for IPL 2025:
In an expected announcement, Sunrisers Hyderabad has confirmed that Pat Cummins will continue to lead the franchise next year as well.
The franchise took to social media to announce this, stating, “Mana leader. Mana CaPATain Patty Cummins will see you again at Uppal” which translates as “Our leader. Our captain.”
SRH has backed Cummins to continue his excellent work as the captain of the franchise. SRH came close to the trophy last year, losing out to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the final after winning eight out of 14 league games.
