The second test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will be played at the Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo.

The Sri Lanka Cricket Team have announced their squad for the second test against the Bangladesh Cricket Team. The encounter, which will conclude the test series, will be played at the Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo and will commence on June 25 (Wednesday).

Dhananjaya de Silva will continue to lead the squad against Bangladesh. The team will be without Angelo Matthews, who pulled down the curtains in the longest format of the game after the opening game against Bangladesh. Mathews played 119 tests for Sri Lanka during his 17-year-long career from 2009 to 2025.

Both the Asian teams commenced their journey in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 with the ongoing two-match test series. Notably, the winner of the second game will win the series, as the opening game ended in a draw.

Talking about the first test, the visitors Bangladesh came up with an outstanding batting show in the first innings after opting to bat first. With tons by skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto (148) and Mushfiqur Rahim (163), the visitors piled up 495/10 in the first innings. Litton Das played a crucial innings of 90 runs.

However, the hosts bounced back with a stunning century by opener Pathum Nissanka (187) and half-centuries by Kamindu Mendis (87) and Dinesh Chandimal (54). They piled up 485/10 after Nayeem Hasan picked a five-wicket haul.

Bangladesh declared at 285/6 in the second innings with another century by skipper Shanto (125*), setting a 296-run target for the hosts. However, with only 32 overs being bowled in the fourth innings, the match ended in a draw with the hosts finishing at 72/4 at the stumps on day 5.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh tour of Sri Lanka 2025 will also witness a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series after the second test.
