Sri Lanka announce squad for second SL vs IND Test; Four pacers included

India are leading the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka 1-0.
The Indian Cricket Team are one win away from a 2-0 series sweep in Sri Lanka after a commanding 165-run victory in the first Test at Galle. Manav Suthar’s 10-wicket haul and strong batting from Devdutt Padikkal, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant put the visitors ahead throughout the match.
The second Test between Sri Lanka and India is scheduled to begin on August 23 at the SSC ground in Colombo. India will enter the match as favourites after their strong performance in Galle, while Sri Lanka will be desperate to level the series on home soil.
However, Sri Lanka’s preparations have not been smooth. The hosts are dealing with several injury concerns and have already made changes to their squad ahead of the Colombo Test. Their latest squad announcement had also brought attention to their bowling combination, with four pacers included in the squad.

The hosts have announced their squad for the second Test, with the team making changes after the defeat in Galle. The hosts will be without some of their experienced players, which has forced the selectors to look at other options.
Kusal Mendis has been ruled out because of a hamstring injury, while Dinesh Chandimal is also unavailable after suffering a concussion during the first Test. Pathum Nissanka remains unavailable as he continues his recovery from wrist surgery.
Sri Lanka have added young players to their squad as they look to strengthen their batting. Kamil Mishara and Sahan Arachchige have been included after impressive performances in domestic cricket.
Arachchige earned his call-up after scoring 127 for Sri Lanka A against India A in the second unofficial Test. Kamil Mishara, meanwhile, has been in good form in T20 cricket and recently smashed 145 runs from just 72 balls in the Major Clubs T20 tournament.
The hosts have also kept four specialist pacers in their squad for the Colombo Test. Asitha Fernando, Vishwa Fernando, Lahiru Kumara and Dilshan Madushanka are part of the bowling department.
The four pacers give the hosts different options in the second Test. Asitha Fernando and Vishwa Fernando bring experience, while Lahiru Kumara can provide extra pace. Madushanka also gives the side another left-arm option.
