BCCI announced a 15-member Indian squad for Asia Cup 2025.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the Indian squad for Asia Cup 2025 on Tuesday (19th August). The tournament will begin on 9th September, with the final scheduled to be played on 28th September.

Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the Indian squad in Asia Cup 2025, while Shubman Gill will be the vice-captain. There were no surprise inclusions in the team with the selectors retaining the players who have performed well in the format after the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

India, who are the defending champions of the Asia Cup, have named quite a few all-rounders as well in the team. The likes of Abhishek Sharma, Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma are expected to play a role with bat and ball.

There were some unfortunate players as well who missed out in the team. It was expected that Shreyas Iyer would be there as well, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal. But neither of the main batters was picked in the team.

Apart from naming the main squad, the BCCI has also added five standby players to the team. They are Prasidh Krishna, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Washington Sundar.

All of the players have done well in this format, both in the IPL as well as for India. There was no statement made on whether these players will travel with the team for Asia Cup 2025, which will be played in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
