IPL 2026: Star player's girlfriend caught leaking team information, raises concerns among BCCI & team owners

Shocking news has come out in the middle of IPL 2026.

Many Indian cricketers are seen travelling with their girlfriends in the Indian Premier League 2026. Players like Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Ishan Kishan were seen with their girlfriends in the ongoing season.

Ahead of IPL 2026, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued strict guidelines for girlfriend culture during the tournament. The BCCI had prohibited families, friends, relatives, and girlfriends of cricketers from travelling in the team buses and staying in the same hotels.

The Governing body also prohibited their access to team hotels and the stadiums during practice sessions. Recently, an incident involving the girlfriend of a star cricketer has worried the team owners and the BCCI.

According to a report by Cricblogger, a girlfriend of a star player was caught twice for leaking the team information to outsiders. The incident worried the franchise owner, who immediately contacted the BCCI.

The report also states that the franchises have urged the board to take necessary steps to protect vital team information and maintain the integrity of the league.

“A girlfriend of an IPL cricketer, who was allegedly caught twice passing on team information to outsiders, may have been one of the reasons behind the BCCI enforcing a fresh advisory for players and support staff, sources told,” the report from CricBlogger said.

“It is also reliably learnt that after discovering the anomaly, the franchise owner immediately got in touch with the board, seeking the prompt release of a detailed list of dos and don’ts for the entire cricketing fraternity,” it added.

Recently, there were reports that the board is considering prohibiting the girlfriend culture in the Indian Premier League. The matter is under discussion, and a final decision will be made in the near future.

The BCCI has been closely monitoring the trend of players being accompanied by their partners and influencers.
