Some of the legends of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will present at the reunion event at Chepauk ahead of IPL 2026

Fans always become excited whenever a season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is around the corner. The Indian summer is the time when the best and most popular T20 event in the world is on show, and this time it’s no different. The 2026 edition of the cash-rich league will commence on March 28, and the franchises are already preparing for the mega event.

Meanwhile, people everywhere are digging out their yellow jerseys and flags to get ready for the first matches in Chennai, where the very air feels charged with local pride and a long sporting history. Fans are already counting down to that first coin toss, because for the loyal crowds at Chepauk Stadium, this tournament is much more than just a set of cricket matches.

Cricbuzz recently reported that Suresh Raina is planning to attend a special reunion for the CSK on March 22. This event acts as a bridge between the team’s successful past and its current hunt for more trophies, especially since the gathering happens right as the new season kicks off.

While famous faces like Muttiah Muralitharan, Matthew Hayden, and Dwayne Bravo plan to be there, R. Ashwin probably won’t make it because his work takes him away from Chennai at that time. These legendary players formed the heart of a team that stayed at the top for years by being consistent and keeping a close, family-like bond inside the dressing room.

Raina earned his Mr IPL nickname by hitting 4,687 runs for the team, often saving them with his quick left-handed batting and amazing fielding. Next to him in the record books, Matthew Hayden stands out as a powerhouse who smashed 1,107 runs at a scary pace, famously using his long Mongoose bat to bully bowlers in the early years.

Dwayne Bravo became the king of the final overs, taking 140 wickets and often celebrating with a dance that the fans absolutely loved. At the same time, Muttiah Muralitharan made things impossible for many world-class batters by taking 40 wickets while keeping his bowling economy-rate very cheap during his three seasons playing under MS Dhoni.

When is the CSK reunion event taking place?

The special gathering for the legendary players is scheduled to happen on March 22 at the Chepauk Stadium.

Which former players are expected to attend the CSK event?

Fans can expect to see Suresh Raina, Matthew Hayden, Dwayne Bravo, and Muttiah Muralitharan at the celebration.

Why is R. Ashwin unlikely to be present for the CSK reunion event?

The veteran spinner will probably miss the event because his professional commitments keep him away from Chennai on that day.
