Virat Kohli is the second leading run-scorer in ODI cricket.

Former Australia captain Steve Waugh came up with massive praise for the Indian Cricket Team batter Virat Kohli. He called the right-hander the greatest one-day player of all time, adding that fans want to see him play everywhere.

Indian batter Virat Kohli has been one of the greatest all-format players that the nation has produced. The batter has scored truckloads of runs in all three formats but, particularly in ODIs, he has been a class apart and is rated even higher than the great Sachin Tendulkar,

Kohli, who is the leading century-hitter in ODIs with 51 centuries, is the second leading run-getter in ODIs with over 14000 runs to his name. In the recent ODI series against Australia, he went past Kumar Sangakkara to take the second spot in the all-time leading run-getters list.

After bagging two back-to-back ducks in the first two games, Kohli made a strong comeback in the third ODI and played a magical innings. He slammed unbeaten 74 runs to take India home as they avoided the whitewash after losing the first two games of the series.

While hailing Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Steve Waugh called them all-time great players. He also pointed out how everyone wants to see them play. Speaking to reporters, he said:

“Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are two all-time great players. Virat Kohli is probably the greatest one-day player of all time. You want to see them play everywhere. People on the Gold Coast would love to see them play, but they can’t play every match,” Waugh was quoted as saying by ANI.

Waugh also lauded the young Indian T20I team, saying that there are a lot of exciting stars. He added:

“Whilst they’re still playing for India, that’s fantastic. They’ve got a modern T20 side now, a lot of exciting stars playing. The game has got to evolve. It’s always great to see all-time great players in action. Someone like Virat Kohli, that’s a once-in-a-generation sort of player. If you get a chance, you want to see him play,” he added.

The T20I series between Australia and India is levelled at 2-1 with the visitors in the lead. The last match of the series will be played at the Gabba in Brisbane on November 8.
