Mohammad Rizwan scored nine runs before getting caught by Steven Taylor.
In the Group A clash between co-hosts United States of America (USA) and Pakistan, USA fielder Steven Taylor took a stunning catch at first slip to dismiss the Men in Green’s opener Mohammad Rizwan for nine runs at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on June 6.
After winning the toss and opting to field first, the United States bowlers didn’t disappoint their skipper, as they removed Pakistan opener Mohammed Rizwan and Usman Khan in the powerplay. The first over of the match was bowled by USA left-arm spinner Nosthush Kenjige. He gave away nine runs.
Skipper Monank Patel then brought left-arm medium pacer Saurabh Netravalkar into the attack to bowl the second over. To attack more with the ball, the United States captain positioned Steven Taylor at first slip.
Off the second ball of the over, Netravalkar bowled a lovely delivery on a good length, which swung away late from Pakistan opener Rizwan. The batter was rooted in the crease and was squared up by the late movement, as the ball caught his bat’s outside edge.
Taylor, who was standing at first slip, dived to his right side and grabbed the ball with one hand before it hit the ground. In the very next over, Nosthush Kenjige removed Usman Khan and gave the co-hosts the perfect start.
