Suresh Raina reveals MS Dhoni's plan on CSK future after IPL 2023

Former CSK batsman, Suresh Raina who is working as an expert on JioCinema in the IPL 2023, has revealed his conversation with CSK captain MS Dhoni.

There's a trend that has emerged during IPL 2023. It started in Ahmedabad, then continued at Wankhede, Eden Gardens, and Lucknow's Ekana Stadium. Despite the home teams receiving the majority of support on most match days, the venues transform into a sea of yellow when playing against Chennai Super Kings. Such is the enthusiasm that CSK jerseys are sold in bulk outside these venues on match days, with the crowd chanting the name of only one player - MS Dhoni.

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding MS Dhoni's final season in the IPL for quite some time. This question first arose two years ago when Dhoni retired from international cricket and has been raised again last year and prior to the start of the current season. Although Dhoni has hinted about his plans when asked, the CSK management has not provided any official statement on the matter.

However, Suresh Raina, who is a close friend of Dhoni and also an IPL expert on JioCinema, revealed the CSK captain's exact words about his future during their last meeting in IPL 2023 on Monday. Dhoni reportedly said "After winning the trophy, I will play one more year," which not only indicates his IPL plans but also shows his confidence in winning a fifth title for the franchise. Fans, experts, and veteran cricketers have been eagerly awaiting Dhoni's final decision on his IPL career. “Main trophy jeetke ek saal aur khelunga (After winning the trophy, I will play one more year),” were Dhoni's words to Raina which while indicates the CSK captain's IPL plan, it also shows how confident he remains about a fifth title for the franchise.

Dhoni responds to Morrison's question

During last week's match between CSK and LSG in Lucknow, presenter and former cricketer Danny Morrison asked Dhoni directly, "This wonderful swansong tour, your last, how are you enjoying it?" Dhoni responded with a smile, saying "Well, you have decided it's my last." Morrison was momentarily stunned and then pointed out to the Lucknow crowd, jokingly saying "You hear that, he is going to come back again next year".
