The Indian cricket team’s outlook has been immensely impressive in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The newly inducted fielding medal award has brought many changes to the Indian team and made the players more proactive in the field. This has raised the standard of fielding in an already dominant Indian camp. Middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav has now earned the most coveted ‘Gold Medal’ inside the Indian camp for his fielding efforts.
Indian fielding coach T Dilip has been introducing new ideas after every game to announce the winner of the award. After India’s encounter against the Netherlands at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the groundsman of the Chinnaswamy Stadium announced the winner with a special gesture to award the medal to India’s gun fielder Suryakumar Yadav. Dilip’s idea brought the Indian camp and groundsmen together.
Rahul, Jadeja, SKY were the contenders
Indian wicket-keeper KL Rahul, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, and Suryakumar were shortlisted as contenders for the award. It was also a unique idea from the Indian team management as they announced the winner replicating the third umpire’s decision on the big screen of Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
