IPL 2025: Suryakumar Yadav breaks Sachin Tendulkar's record of most runs for MI in a single edition of the IPL

Sachin Tendulkar scored 618 runs for MI in IPL 2010, while Suryakumar Yadav has scored over 640 runs in 2025 so far.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) are facing off in their last league match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Monday, May 26. PBKS vs MI, 69th match of IPL 2025, is taking place at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bowl first. Suryakumar Yadav, who was the star for Mumbai Indians with the bat, scripted the record for the most runs for the franchise in a single edition during the match. The right-handed batsman arrived at the bat in the one-down position.
After MI lost openers Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma for 27 runs and 24 runs respectively, Yadav led the batting from the front and scored 57 runs. Yadav reached his half-century in the 19th over and lost his wicket in the 20th over to Arshdeep Singh. His innings powered MI to 184/7 in the all-important clash.
Suryakumar Yadav breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most runs
Notably, Yadav also broke former MI legend Sachin Tendulkar‘s record of most runs for the team in a single edition of the tournament. Tendulkar slammed 618 runs for the team in the 2010 edition. Notably, Yadav came close to breaking Tendulkar’s record in the 2023 edition, when he piled up 605 runs. Below is the list of the top five highest run-scorers for MI in a single season.

Yadav has shown a spectacular form in IPL 2025. He is the MI’s leading run-scorer and is also present in the list of the top five highest run-scorers this season. Yadav has slammed five half-centuries in the tournament, including the fifty against PBKS. The right-handed batter has a strike rate of 169.23 and an average of 79.75.
Meanwhile, MI and PBKS have already qualified for the playoffs. However, they are facing each other in a crucial clash. The winner of the match will grab the top spot in the points table. PBKS currently hold the second spot, while MI are in the fourth spot in the points table.
