Suryakumar Yadav was the second-highest run-getter for India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
No matter how many milestones he has achieved or will achieve, Indian Cricket Team batter Suryakumar Yadav will also be remembered for the catch that he took in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 against the South Africa Cricket Team. He came up with a staggering effort near the boundary ropes to remove David Miller.
The famous lines “Long off…long offf…Suryakumar Yadav” will be forever etched in the hearts of many Indian fans. His stupendous effort on the field helped the Indian Cricket Team end their long wait for the ICC title as they beat South Africa in the final to win the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
In the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, India were down and dusted, and with the way South Africa were going, it was almost certain that it would be another heartbreak for India. The Proteas needed just 16 runs in the last over, and David Miller, who was on strike, looked in great touch.
Skipper Rohit Sharma handed the responsibility to his deputy Hardik Pandya to bowl the last over. On the first ball of the over, the all-rounder bowled a low wide full toss, to which David Miller got in the line and heaved it through the line.
He got enough power behind it, and it seemed that it would go for a six. However, Suryakumar Yadav came up with a magical effort. He came out of nowhere to pluck it out as he moved to his left, and then juggled it up as he was going over the ropes.
His feet were millimetres away from the cushions too, but he displayed a great presence of mind as he did well not to step on it. Suryakumar lobbed it back in as he went out, came back in, and steadied himself to complete the catch.
