[Watch] Suryakumar Yadav condoles Dunith Wellalage in a heartfelt gesture after IND vs SL Super Four clash in Asia Cup 2025

Suryakumar Yadav-led India defeated Sri Lanka in the Super Over.

Indian Cricket Team skipper Suryakumar Yadav might have failed to make an impact with the bat in the Super Four game against Sri Lanka in Asia Cup 2025, but he left no stone unturned in winning the hearts of many. The match between the two teams took place on September 26 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. 

The India vs Sri Lanka Super Four game in Asia Cup 2025 went down to the wire and kept almost everyone on their toes. India, who were asked to bat first, posted 202 runs on the board, becoming the first side in the tournament to score over 200 runs in an innings.

However, Sri Lanka came up with an equally great effort as they too piled up 202 on board. The match went to a Super Over, where India registered a comfortable win and maintained their unbeaten record in the tournament, heading into the final on a high. 

While the match kept many excited, one of the things that caught the attention of many was the gesture of Suryakumar Yadav after the match. The Indian captain went to Sri Lankan player Dunith Wellalage to console him as the youngster lost his father.

During the Super Four game against Bangladesh, Dunith Wellalage lost his father. He went home to perform the rituals and then returned to join the team. His courageous act was lauded by many and one among them was Suryakumar Yadav 

Suryakumar Yadav was seen talking and later hugging Wellalage. The video went viral on the internet with many lauding the Indian skipper for his gesture.

Suryakumar Yadav will now be seen in action when India take on Pakistan in the final of Asia Cup 2025. The match between the two teams will be played on Sunday (28th September) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
