Suryakumar Yadav has struggled to performance in IPL 2026.
Suryakumar Yadav led India to the T20 World Cup title in March; however, after that things have not been good for him. The right-handed batsman failed to impress with his batting in the T20 World Cup, except for one fifty at the start.
His poor form carried even in IPL 2026 for the Mumbai Indians as he has scored just 210 runs in 12 games at an average of 17.50 with just one half-century. Due to his poor form and age factor, there have been reports that the Indian selectors might sack him as captain and drop him from the side.
Earlier, there were reports that Yadav might be removed as T20I captain after IPL 2026, with selectors experimenting with a new skipper in the T20I series against Ireland and England.

As per a report by the Times of India, Suryakumar Yadav is keen to lead India in the T20I series against Ireland and England. Also, he will play in the T20 Mumbai League to get back his form and prove his value to the selectors. The T20 Mumbai League 2026 will be played from June 1 to June 13.
After IPL 2026, India will clash with Afghanistan in a one-off test and three-match ODI series at home. They will travel to Ireland for a two-match T20I series from June 26 to 28.
Later, India will also clash with England in five T20I games, which will be played from July 1 to July 11. It will be followed by three ODI games.
Meanwhile, India have shown a spectacular form under Suryakumar’s captaincy, winning Asia Cup 2025 and T20 World Cup 2026. They also remained unbeaten in bilateral T20I series under his leadership. However, Suryakumar has struggled with his own form for a long time.
