Suryakumar Yadav said India are very happy to be in the final.

Indian Cricket Team defeated Sri Lanka Cricket Team in the last match of the Super Four round of Asia Cup 2025 on Friday, September 26. After the hard-fought win, skipper Suryakumar Yadav hailed pacer Arshdeep Singh, who bowled a brilliant super over to power his team to victory, and also shared his take on the final against Pakistan.

In the thrilling clash, India defeated Sri Lanka in the super over to keep their unbeaten run in the tournament alive. After being asked to bat first, opener Abhishek Sharma (61) yet again provided his team with a wonderful start, hitting his third consecutive fifty. Later, Sanju Samson (39) and Tilak Varma (49*) followed up on his good start, taking the team’s total to 202/5.

In the chase, Sri Lanka had an upper hand as Pathum Nissanka (107) and Kusal Perera (58) etched a stand of 127 runs for the second wicket, sending Indian bowlers on the back foot. Nissanka went on to smack a century and it was almost certain that he would take his team to win. However, things changed for Sri Lanka in the last two overs as Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana bowled brilliantly, stopping Sri Lanka at 202/5 as the match went to the super over.

Sri Lanka lost the plot in the super over, scoring just two runs with Arshdeep Singh dismissing both their batters. Later, Suryakumar Yadav scored the winning runs for India on the first delivery in the dramatic clash.

His confidence says it all: Suryakumar Yadav hails Arshdeep Singh

During the post-match presentation, Suryakumar Yadav heaped praises on Arshdeep for his brilliant job in the super over. He said that left-arm pacer was the best option for him to deliver that over.

“He (Arshdeep) has delivered for us the last 2-3 years. I told him to back his own plans and try to execute. He has been there in that situation many times and he has done really well for India and for his IPL side. His confidence says it all. None other than Arshdeep to bowl that Super Over,” he said.

“To have that start (with the bat), and someone like Sanju and Tilak taking that tempo was good to see. And for someone like Sanju, who is not opening the batting, and taking that responsibility and even Tilak showing great confidence which was good to see,” he added.

We will have a recovery day tomorrow and turn up the same way we turned up today – Suryakumar Yadav on final against Pakistan

Suryakumar Yadav also talked about the upcoming final against Pakistan, saying that they are hopeful of carrying their form to the summit clash as well.

“Few boys had a lot of cramps today, we will have a recovery day tomorrow and turn up the same way we turned up today (talking about the final). Everyone got what they wanted (from the group stages) and we are very happy to be in the finals,” he added.

Meanwhile, India will now take on Pakistan in the final of the tournament on September 28 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. The Men in Blue have been unbeaten in the tournament so far, winning all six of their matches. They have already defeated Pakistan twice in the tournament and would be keen to complete another win.
