Rinku Singh scored 32 runs in 9 balls against Australia in the 2nd T20I.

Rinku Singh has emerged as a new-age star for Indian cricket team with his fantastic match-winning performances. Left-hand batter Rinku Singh played a blistering cameo against Australia in the second T20I played at Greenfield Cricket Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Rinku smashed 32 runs in nine balls with four fours and two towering sixes in Thiruvananthapuram and took India’s score over 230 runs. India won the game by 44 runs and took a 2-0 lead in the 5-match T20I series.

India’s stand-in skipper, Suryakumar Yadav, was also impressed with Rinku Singh’s performance in international cricket. Suryakumar also gave Rinku the biggest complement he could get after his just four international innings in the T20I format. While talking about Rinku Singh, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav said that his game reminds him of someone who has done well for all these years in finishing games and drew a parallel with MS Dhoni.

Suryakumar Yadav said, “When I saw Rinku come in to bat in the last game, the composure he showed was brilliant. It reminded me of someone. Everyone knows the answer.” Surya clearly gave the hint of Rinku’s comparison with former Indian captain and one of the finest finishers in world cricket, MS Dhoni.

Rinku Singh looks a very calm and composed player even if the situation gets tougher. Rinku said that having experience in the lower-order puts him in a calm position. He said, “I bat in this number a lot. So, I am calm knowing this position. I know sometimes I will get 5-6 overs (to bat) or sometimes two overs. That’s exactly how I practice as if I am batting in the last five.” He also informed that VVS Laxman also suggested that he trains like that.

Left-hand batter Rinku Singh has batted in 4 T20I innings in 7 games and got out only once. He remained unbeaten in the 3 innings and scored more than 20 runs in each innings. His strike rate is 216 in the 4 innings. Rinku scored 128 runs in 59 balls. He also smacked 12 fours and 9 sixes in 10 overs he faced in international cricket. Rinku won the game after smashing a six in the first T20I game played in Vishakhapatnam.
