Suryakumar Yadav has so far scored 59 runs in three innings at the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian batter, has held onto his No. 1 spot in the latest ICC T20I rankings. The ICC released the updated T20I batting, bowling, and all-rounder rankings on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

Thanks to his performance in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Suryakumar Yadav tightened his grip on the No. 1 spot in the ICC T20I batting rankings. After disappointing against Ireland and Pakistan, Suryakumar Yadav hit his slowest half-century in the format against the USA and helped India win the game from a precarious situation.

Following Suryakumar Yadav in the batting rankings are England’s Phil Salt and Pakistan’s Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan at the second, third and fourth spots respectively. Australian opener Travis Head is up five places to fifth, while West Indies wicket-keeper batter Nicholas Pooran has jumped eight places to 11th.

Coming to the bowling rankings, the West Indies bowlers have shone the brightest thus far in the competition, and the rankings reflect this.

Akeal Hosein, WI left-arm spinner, has climbed up six places to second position in the bowlers’ list, trailing only England’s Adil Rashid, who holds the top spot. West Indies vice-captain Alzarri Joseph has also risen six ranks to 11th, while colleague Gudakesh Motie has risen 16 places to 13th.

Marcus Stoinis becomes the new No. 1 ranked T20I all-rounder; dethrones Mohammad Nabi

The biggest change in the T20I rankings happened in the all-rounder’s rankings. Australia’s Marcus Stoinis became the new No. 1 ranked all-rounder dethroning Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi.

The burly Australian batter achieved this feat thanks to his recent performances in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Marcus Stoinis returned with the figures of 2/9 against Namibia and then hammered a brilliant 59 runs off 29 balls to take Australia to win against Scotland.

Overall, Stoinis has scored 156 runs in 4 innings at an average of 78. He is the third-leading run-getter in the tournament. He has chipped in with the ball as well at crucial points to help Australia qualify for the Super 8s.

Sri Lanka skipper Wanindu Hasaranga and Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan follow Stoinis at No. 2 and 3. Mohammad Nabi has slipped to the fourth spot.
