Suryakumar Yadav undergoes successful surgery in Germany, updates fans with "Can't wait to be back" message

Suryakumar Yadav recently played in the Mumbai T20 League 2025.
Indian Cricket Team T20I skipper, Suryakumar Yadav, is taking advantage of the break to prepare for the upcoming difficult white-ball season as the test team fights it out in England. According to the most recent information, the 34-year-old’s sports hernia operation, which involved flying to Munich, Germany, was successfully finished.
The explosive batsman top-scored for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, scoring 717 runs at an incredible strike-rate of 167.91 during the campaign. Yadav smashed Robin Uthappa’s 11-year-old record for the most consecutive IPL scores of 25 or more, and he recorded five half-centuries. His overall consistency was astounding.
Yadav played in the domestic T20 league in Mumbai following the mega event; however, his team’s performance was lacklustre as they were eliminated in the early stages.
‘Can’t wait to be back’ – Suryakumar Yadav posts on Instagram after successful surgery
After undergoing surgery in Munich, Germany, for a sports hernia, India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav is presently recuperating. This is Yadav’s third surgery in three years, having previously undergone surgeries in late 2023 (ankle) and a sports hernia in early 2024.
The 34-year-old cricket player, who last represented India in the T20I series against England in February, posted an update on social media about his successful operation and expressed how excited he is to play cricket again.
“Life update: Underwent surgery for a sports hernia in the lower right abdomen. Grateful to share that after a smooth surgery, I am already on the road to recovery. Can’t wait to be back,” Suryakumar Yadav posted on Instagram.
India will play three ODIs and as many T20Is during their visit to Bangladesh in July as their next white-ball assignment. Yadav is unlikely to participate in the ODIs against Bangladesh because he hasn’t played 50-over cricket for India since the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final.
He is currently running out of time to be ready for the T20Is, and his deputy Axar Patel is anticipated to take charge in case of an emergency.
After the tour of Bangladesh, India will go to Australia, where they will play five Twenty20 Internationals and three ODIs. Following that, they will be seen in action against South Africa at home.
