Bangladesh Cricket Team pacer Taskin Ahmed has suffered an injury scare in the ongoing BPL 2025-26. Ahmed, who represents Dhaka Capitals in the tournament, missed a recent clash against Noakhali Express.
The encounter was scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 11, at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. In the post-match presentation, Capitals captain Mohammad Mithun revealed that the fast bowler was absent from the clash as he is suffering from a knee-related injury.
Hence, he was not picked in the game as a precautionary measure and will travel to Dhaka for medical scans.
Taskin’s participation in the T20 World Cup 2026 is doubtful
Notably, the 30-year-old is part of the Bangladesh squad for the ICC T20 WC 2026, scheduled to commence on February 7.
With Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Shoriful Islam, he is a crucial part of the pace unit. Due to his injury scare, his participation in the ICC tournament is doubtful.
So far, he has picked up three wickets in five matches in BPL 2025-26. His last appearance was against Sylhet Titans on January 8, where he went wicketless.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh are placed in Group C in the upcoming World Cup alongside Italy, Nepal, West Indies, and England. They will play their first match against the West Indies at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on February 7.
However, due to ongoing issues between the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), BCB is looking to shift its venues out of India, citing security concerns for its players.
