Top 5 teams with highest totals in List A Cricket history

Bihar became the first-ever team to cross the 550-mark in List A cricket history.
On December 24, Bihar set a record, scoring a massive 574 runs in their Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 opening match against Arunachal Pradesh.
This sensational hitting is a reminder of how easy the game has become for batsmen and how difficult it has become for bowlers on pitches that offer them very little assistance.
Interestingly, it was Arunachal Pradesh’s bowling lineup only, which had been hammered for 506 by Tamil Nadu, the previous highest score in List A cricket history. On that note, let’s revisit some of these record-breaking team scores and find out the batters who helped their teams script history.
Highest team scores in List A Cricket history-
5. England’s 481/6 vs Australia (2018)
England posted 481/6 against Australia in the third ODI at Trent Bridge on June 19, 2018, setting the then-world-record highest total in men’s ODI history.
The foundation was laid by Jason Roy’s 82 and Jonny Bairstow’s 139 off 92, who added 159 for the first wicket, followed by Alex Hales’ 147 off 92 balls and Eoin Morgan’s quickfire 67.
Australia ended up well short in a one-sided thrashing that epitomized England’s aggressive, fearless approach under Morgan’s captaincy during their 2019 World Cup-winning era.
4. Surrey’s 496/4 vs Gloucestershire (2007)
Surrey demolished Gloucestershire by posting a then-world-record 496/4 in a 50-over List A match during the 2007 Friends Provident Trophy at The Oval on April 29.
Led by Alistair Brown’s brutal 176 off just 97 balls and James Benning’s 152, the pair forged a mammoth 294-run opening stand, before Rikki Clarke unleashed mayhem with an unbeaten 82 off 28 balls (9 fours, 6 sixes).
Surrey hammered 47 fours and 22 sixes overall, overwhelming the visitors en route to a 257-run victory as Gloucestershire collapsed to 239 all out.
3. England’s 498/4 vs Netherlands (2022)

In one of the most astonishing displays of batting dominance in ODI history, England blew away the Netherlands with a world-record 498/4 in the first ODI at Amstelveen on June 17, 2022.
Powered by centuries from Phil Salt (122), Dawid Malan (125), and a brutal unbeaten 162 off just 70 balls from Jos Buttler, featuring 14 sixes alongside Liam Livingstone’s blistering 66* off 22 balls, England hammered 26 sixes and 36 fours in a relentless assault to secure a 232-run victory as the hosts managed 266 in reply.
2. Tamil Nadu’s 506/2 vs Arunachal Pradesh (2022)
Tamil Nadu etched their name into cricketing history during the 2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy by becoming the first team ever to breach the 500-run mark in List A cricket.
Batting at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru against Arunachal Pradesh, TN piled up a staggering 506 for 2 in their allotted 50 overs, shattering England’s previous world record of 498.
The innings was built on a breathtaking opening partnership of 416 runs between Narayan Jagadeesan and Sai Sudharsan, the highest for any wicket in List A history.
Jagadeesan was the chief architect of the record-breaking total, scoring 277 off just 141 balls, the highest individual score ever recorded in List A cricket. Sudharsan played the perfect supporting role with a superb 154, and the match ended in a 435-run victory.
1. Bihar’s 574/6 vs Arunachal Pradesh (2025)

Bihar rewrote the history books in the 2025–26 Vijay Hazare Trophy by smashing an unprecedented 574 for 6, the highest team total ever recorded in List A cricket. Playing in a Plate League fixture, Bihar became the first team to breach the 550-run mark in the 50-over format.
The record-breaking total was a breathtaking collective batting effort, led by teenage prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who hammered 190 off just 84 balls against Arunachal Pradesh.
Captain Sakibul Gani provided the finishing fireworks with a blistering 128 off 40 balls, registering the fastest List A century by an Indian in just 32 deliveries. At the same time, Ayush Loharuka added further weight with a rapid hundred.
