Top 5 teams who have scored most 200+ totals in T20 World Cup

South Africa have crossed most 200+ totals in the T20 World Cup history.

The importance of scoring 200 or above in a T20 World Cup can never be understated. Given the pressure of the competition, scoring such a big total exhausts the opposing team both physically and mentally.

It often happens that teams that perform so well with the bat win the match. With pitches becoming more and more batting-friendly, expect more such totals to be scored in the future. On that note, let’s take a look at the top five teams who have scored the most 200+ totals in the T20 World Cup history.

Teams with the most 200+ totals-

England scripted a sensational run chase to score their biggest ever total in T20 World Cup history against South Africa in 2016.

With Joe Root and Jason Roy starring with the bat, England made 230/8 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. They also touched 200 against India back in 2007, but still went on to lose the match.

4. West Indies – 3 instances

West Indies became the first team to score a 200+ score in T20 World Cup history. They did so in 2007, on the back of Chris Gayle’s brilliant ton. They also scored 211 against Australia in the semi-finals, with captain Sammy providing the finishing touches. Their biggest total, though, came in 2024, when they hammered 218/5 against Afghanistan.

3. Sri Lanka – 3 instances

Sri Lanka struck the competition’s grandest total in the very first season against Kenya, as star batters Sanath Jayasuriya and Mahela Jayawardene helped their team post 260/6.

In 2026, they managed to score another massive score of 225 against Oman, proving their ability to strike big with the bat, even in tough conditions.

2. India – 4 instances

India have emerged as a six-hitting powerhouse, given the increasing nature of flat tracks being prepared. However, their highest score came back in 2007, when Yuvraj Singh created history to score a splendid 218/4 against England, which included 6 sixes in 6 balls.

More recently, they scored 210 against Afghanistan in 2021 and 205 against Australia, led by Rohit Sharma’s fabulous knock at the top of the order. India made their fourth and most recent 200-plus total against Namibia in the T20 World Cup 2026. They posted a big total of 209/9.

1. South Africa – 6 instances

South Africa have breached the 200-mark more often than anyone else. Some of their most memorable innings include their massive 229/4 against England in 2016 at Wankhede, 208/2 against WI, and 213/4 vs Canada recently in 2026.

The Proteas have historically always boasted a formidable pool of big-hitters in AB de Villiers, David Miller, Quinton de Kock, and others.
