The Indian Premier League (IPL) has emerged as the world’s biggest franchise cricket league. India’s premier cricket tournament has featured some of the game’s biggest superstars, from legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting to modern greats like Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.

The tournament’s first season was played in 2008, with Rajasthan Royals (RR) winning the title under Shane Warne’s leadership. Since then, 17 editions have been played and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) have emerged as the most successful franchises, winning five titles each.

Recently, the tournament has become a batsman’s paradise, with teams consistently posting totals of 200 or more. In this article, we look at the top 10 teams with the most 200+ totals in the IPL history.

10. Lucknow Super Giants – 8 times

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) made their IPL debut in 2022. Although the franchise has not won a title yet, they have reached the playoffs twice in three seasons.

They registered their highest-ever total of 257/5 in the competition in 2023 against Punjab Kings in Mohali, ultimately winning the game by 56 runs. The franchise has so far crossed the 200-run mark eight times – winning six and losing twice.

9. Gujarat Titans – 8 times

Up next on the list is another new franchise, Gujarat Titans (GT). They have been impressive since their inception in 2022, winning the IPL in their debut season before finishing as runners-up in the 2023 edition.

Thanks to reliable batsmen like Shubman Gill, they have successfully crossed the 200-run mark eight times in their brief history, winning and losing four times each. Their highest-ever total in IPL came in Qualifier 2 of the 2023 edition against Mumbai Indians, where they registered 233/3.

They won that match by a huge margin of 62 runs.

8. Delhi Capitals – 17 times

Delhi Capitals (DC) have scored more than 200 runs 17 times in IPL history and have an excellent win ratio in these games, with 15 wins and just two defeats.

Their highest total in the tournament is 257/4, which they registered against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024 in a 10-run win.

7. Rajasthan Royals – 22 times

The winners of the first IPL season in 2008, Rajasthan Royals (RR) transformed their batting lineup into an ultra-explosive unit after the arrival of young talents like Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

They have registered a total of more than 200 runs 21 times in IPL history. They have won two-thirds of these contests, winning 14 and losing on seven occasions. Their highest total – 242/6 came in a losing effort against SRH in IPL 2025.

6. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 22 times

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) hold the record for the highest-ever total in IPL history – 287/3, which came against against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2024 edition. They won that game by 25 runs.

The franchise has crossed the 200-run mark 22 times in IPL history. They have been victorious in 18 of these games while losing four times. They adopted an ultra-attacking approach post-IPL 2024 after finding the opening pair of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma.

5. Punjab Kings – 25 times

Punjab Kings (PBKS) are one of the three franchises to never win the title despite participating in all editions of the tournament since its inception in 2008, alongside Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The Kings have scored more than 200 runs in an innings 25 times, winning 16 and losing eight matches. They hold the record for highest-successful run-chase in the history of IPL, which came in 2024 against KKR at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. They scored 262 in that game, which is also their highest total in the IPL.

4. Mumbai Indians – 25 times

One of the most successful teams in IPL history, five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have posted a total of 200 or more runs 25 times – winning 19, losing five with one tied match.

Home to some of the most attacking batsmen, including Kieron Pollard, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya, their highest-ever total in the tournament – 247/9 came against Delhi Capitals in 2024. Unfortunately, they lost that game by 10 runs.

3. Kolkata Knight Riders – 25 times

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have won the IPL three times (2012, 2014, and 2024) in history. The Kolkata-based franchise ended their 10-year title drought in 2024 under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer.

They registered their highest total in IPL history – 272/7 against Delhi Capitals during IPL 2024 in Visakhapatnam, ultimately winning the game by 106 runs. The franchise has crossed the 200-run mark 25 times, winning 15 and losing on 10 of these occasions.

2. Royal Challengers Bengaluru – 30 times

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have been one of the most entertaining teams in IPL history. Home to some of the world’s most destructive batsmen like Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers, the Chinnaswamy Stadium is considered one of the most batting-friendly venues in the world.

RCB have scored 200 or more runs 30 times in the IPL. Out of these games, they have won 20 contests while losing on 10 occasions. Their highest-ever total in IPL – 263/5 came against Pune Warriors India in Bengaluru.

1. Chennai Super Kings – 32 times

Chennai Super Kings hold the record for crossing the 200-run mark most times in the IPL history, with a total of 32 occasions. Out of these 32 occasions, the team has won 24 matches while losing eight times.

They registered their highest score of 246/5 against Rajasthan Royals in the 2010 edition at their home ground, MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. They won the game by 23 runs.
