Teams who have scored most 400+ totals in ODI cricket
Only 7 teams have managed to score 400+ in ODI cricket so far.
Cricket, often referred to as a gentleman's game, has witnessed a remarkable transformation in One Day International (ODI) format over the years. Once considered a format where scores above 250 were challenging to achieve, ODI cricket has evolved into a high-octane spectacle where teams regularly breach the 300-runs mark. However, a selected few have gone above and beyond, consistently reaching and even surpassing the 400-runs milestone.
In this article, we delve into the top teams that have notched up 400+ scores in ODIs, showcasing their batting abilities and dominance in the modern-era of limited-overs cricket.
Teams who have scored most 400+ totals in ODIs:
7. Zimbabwe - 1 Time:
Zimbabwe, though not a regular in the upper tiers of ODI cricket, managed to score 400+ runs in an innings once, giving a glimpse of their untapped potential. They achieved this in the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers against USA, held in Zimbabwe.
6. New Zealand - 2 Times:
New Zealand, often considered underdogs, have showcased their batting abilities on the global stage by scoring 400 or more runs in an ODI innings twice. While they may not have as many entries in the 400+ club as some of teams on the list, they are still one of the strongest team in the world. Black Caps achieved this fear first time against the Irish side in July, 2008. New Zealand's second 400+ total in ODIs came against Pakistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. New Zealand smashed 401/6 in their allotted 50 overs.
5. Sri Lanka - 2 Times:
Sri Lanka, known for their flair and unorthodox cricketing style, managed to breach the 400-runs barrier on two occasions. Led by charismatic captains like Sanath Jayasuriya and Kumar Sangakkara, Sri Lanka's batting line-up has often surprised opponents with its explosive stroke-play and innovative shot selection. Lankan side breached the 400 runs mark against Netherlands in 2006, and the second time was the memorable encounter against Indian side on the Race Course ground in Rajkot, which ended in a loss.
4. Australia - 2 Times:
Australia, a cricketing powerhouse, have been a model of consistency in ODIs. While they may not have reached the 400-run mark as frequently as some other teams on this list, they have achieved this feat twice, showcasing their adaptability and depth in batting. Infact, they were the first team to breach the 400-run mark in ODIs.
With legends like Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist leading the charge in the past and contemporary stars like David Warner, Glenn Maxwell and Travis Head, Australia remain a force to be reckoned with in the ODI format. Kangaroos breached the 400 runs mark for the first time in a historical encounter in Johannesburg against South Africa, which the home side won in dramatic fashion in 2006.
The second instance was during the 2015 Cricket World Cup game against Afghanistan in Perth, where the Aussies won in handsome fashion.
3. England - 5 Times:

Under the leadership of Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler in recent years, England's fearless batting line-up, featuring power hitters like Jos Buttler and Jason Roy, has consistently set imposing targets for their opponents.
The three Lions also possess the unique record of scoring all of them against different teams. New Zealand, West Indies, and Australia Pakistan and the Netherlands have been on the receiving end of the ruthlessness shown by England. England also hold the record for highest total in ODIs, which is 498/4 against Netherlands in June, 2022.
2. India - 7 Times:
India, the cricket-crazy nation, boast a formidable ODI team that has consistently delivered exceptional performances with the bat. With six instances of scoring 400 or more runs in an innings, Team India are undoubtedly one of the most feared batting line-ups in the world. Iconic players like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Rohit Sharma have played pivotal roles in India's journey to the 400+ club.
The victims of Indian batting are Bermuda, West Indies, South Africa, Sri Lanka (twice), Bangladesh and Netherlands.

South Africa have scored 400+ twice against Australia, twice against West Indies and once each against Zimbabwe, Ireland, India and Sri Lanka. Out of their nine 400+ totals, three have come in ODI World Cups.
